Sadly, the brutal reaction of that country\u2019s military junta to these peaceful demonstrators has been shocking.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; color: #375964;\">Media and observer reports have detailed the atrocities of the Burmese authorities: potentially hundreds of innocent citizens shot or even burned alive. Thousands more have been jailed. Pro-democracy leader and Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi remains under house arrest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small; color: #375964;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/central.bcwebinc.com\/~rightcan\/c.juIZLdMOJrE\/b.2517563\/k.8F11\/Take_Action\/siteapps\/advocacy\/ActionItem.aspx?c=juIZLdMOJrE&amp;b=2517563&amp;aid=9339\">Please  join us in calling on Stephen Harper to take a stronger stand<\/a><\/span> in defence of peace and human rights.
