{"id":671,"date":"2010-02-12T12:46:38","date_gmt":"2010-02-12T17:46:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightoncanada.ca\/?p=671"},"modified":"2010-02-16T12:55:48","modified_gmt":"2010-02-16T17:55:48","slug":"press-release-quebec-premier-charest-challenged-by-scientists-for-supporting-the-science-on-climate-change-but-not-on-asbestos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rightoncanada.ca\/?p=671","title":{"rendered":"Press Release: Quebec Premier Charest challenged by scientists for supporting the science on climate change, but not on asbestos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>For immediate release: February 10, 2010<br \/>\nRightOnCanada: <a href=\"www.rightoncanada.ca\">www.rightoncanada.ca<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/central.bcwebinc.com\/~rightcan\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Letter-to-Premier-Charest-Feb-10-2010.pdf\">Read here \/ Lire ici: Letter to Premier Charest, Feb 10 2010<\/a><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Quebec Premier Charest challenged by scientists for supporting the science on climate change, but not on asbestos<\/p>\n<p>While Premier Charest is in Vancouver attending the Olympics, a number of scientists and health advocates have issued him a challenge for supporting the science on climate change but not the science on asbestos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are shocked by your statement that your government closed its mind on the asbestos question a long time ago and will not change its position,\u201d Dr Kapil Khatter, President of the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, told Charest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPremier Charest, a closed mind is a very dangerous thing, particularly in a political leader,\u201d say the scientists in their letter, sent to Charest today.<\/p>\n<p>The signers agree with Charest\u2019s statement that, politically, asbestos is part of Quebec\u2019s history.
