When Jean Charest, Premier of Quebec, arrived in India on January 31 2010, he found he could not escape the issue that has been haunting him at home. Both the Occupational Health and Safety Centre of Bombay and the Occupational Health and Safety Association of Ahmedabad were reported to have requested meeting with Mr. Charest, and news reports cited plans of demonstrations to urge Mr. Charest to abandon the exportation of asbestos to India.
