A young woman, known as “the Woman from al-Qatif”, who was kidnapped and gang raped, has been sentenced by a Saudi Arabian court to be flogged with 200 lashes and spend 6 months in jail for being alone with a man.

Saudi Arabia is a declared ally in the fight for democracy and human rights.

Please call on Prime Minister Harper to demand that Saudi Arabia:

* immediately halt the planned floggings

* drop the charges against the young woman

* reform its legal system so as to comply with its international human rights obligations
