Below is a preliminary response from the publisher of Current Opinion in Pulmonary Medicine.

Let us hope that the publisher will act with integrity and retract an article that puts forward scientific misinformation which causes human suffering and loss of life. See: Scientists ask journal to retract scientifically flawed article by leading asbestos industry consultant.

Dear Professor Lemen,
 
I just wanted to update you regarding the article by Bernstein. The journal will publish a correction to the conflicts of interest statement in the next issue while we continue to investigate and consider your request to retract the article “due to its bias, its scientifically flawed data, its selective literature review and its misrepresentation of facts…[and] because it contributes to harm to health”.
