Quebec is the only Canadian province where asbestos mining is active and India is its number one importer. With Quebec Premier Jean Charest leading a business delegation to India starting January 31, some groups are gearing up to bring their message directly to the premier in New Delhi: That he should take into account all scientific evidence that asbestos is hazardous and stop its export. And that while his government is spending millions of dollars removing asbestos from public buildings and private homes, it still exports to countries like India. (more)
